Review: Michi Vyper Crop, Stardust Crop & Kitana Bra

Ever since I got my first Michi pieces last year, I've been obsessed. The fit, style, and ability to wear the items running are perfect for me. I was on the lookout for sales around the holidays and was able to get some other great pieces.

Vyper Crop Legging

My only pair of black crops are Lululemon Wunder Unders that are four years old. I wanted to upgrade and liked the basic black Vyper Crop with the small detail of mesh on the calf. I ordered a small, the same size as the Hydra Crop I first got. The fabric and fit is identical to the Hydra--compressive, opaque, and comfortable. I don't have much to say about these except that I love them and can see getting a lot of use out of them. I did notice that the interior of the fabric is a soft, brushed fabric that's different from the outer. I looked at my other Michi crops, and they also have the same soft interior fabric. I'm not sure how I didn't notice it at first. I can see now how the Hydra Crops kept me warm when I ran in them in low-40 temps. I think they will likely be too warm for really hot workouts.

Stardust Crop

Okay, in all honesty, these crops were not on sale. But they have a pretty low pricepoint for Michi, and I absolutely wanted something in the pretty plum color. The color is really pretty in person and is a little darker than in product photos. The sides have a wide mesh strip from the upper thigh down to the bottom of the leg. I love the style and color of these crops. They are opaque on me. Again, the fabric and fit is identical to my other Michi crops, so I think it's safe to assume that the fit is consistent at least among the crops. The length is also consistent on all my crops, coming to just above my ankle bone (and thus, not really crops).

Kitana Bra

The Kitana Bra was one I regretted not getting in the initial Black Friday sale, and I was seriously considering buying it at full price. Thanks to Revolve, I was able to get it at a great price. Love when that happens! I ordered it in size medium. This bra comes with bra cups, has hooks in the back, and has adjustable straps. I have a love-hate relationship with bras that hook in the back as opposed to being pulled on. I like that the fit is adjustable since bras tend to stretch out over time. But it's always harder to get them on than pull-on styles. With some styles I can hook the bra first and then pull it up, but that's not possible with the strappy style of the Katana. So it took some time to get it on and get it hooked. (You would think by this time I've learned how to hook a bra in the back, but no.) The bra is very comfortable but fits a little big. Because of the adjustable straps and band, though, it's not too big. There is not much support, and I wouldn't be able to run in it. However, the style is just kick-ass. It's really different from any other bra I have. I tried it on under a number of different tops, and I love how it changes the look of tops. With the Michi Venom Tank in particular, it looks really cool. I plan to wear the bra for casual use and light workouts.

By the way, I liked the Venom Tank in grey/magenta so much that I also bought one in black because it was on sale. I think this tank may be favorite tank ever. I just need it to warm up so that I can wear it out!

In reading others' comments on Michi, it seems that those who wear size XS are finding the crops too big and not compressive. I hope Michi comes out with an XXS size to accommodate those who need a smaller size. I've found that Michi size small fits comparably to Lulu size 6 with the same amount of compression as in Lulu Luxtreme run bottoms. I've also found that Michi size medium in bras fits slightly bigger than Lulu size 8 bras. I might try a size small in a Michi bra next time.

Michi was my number one best activewear brand discovery in 2015 and has quickly taken the most-loved spot in my activewear wardrobe. I can't wait to see what they come out with in 2016.

PS: I apologize for the poor quality of these photos. I really tried to get good photos to show the product details. It seems the only time I can get good photos is by taking them outside, and I wasn't going outside in the cold in this outfit! Here's an outtake of trying to maneuver lights around to get better pictures. Ha!
