A Very Windy Tempo Run

When my alarm went off at 4:40 this morning, I thought the wind might blow down my house. It sounded fierce, and when I checked my weather app it read gusts between 21 and 39 mph. So the whole time getting dressed, I dreaded going outside. While running in the wind sucks in general, my eyes always water when I run, which is why I like to have pockets in my pants so I can carry tissues. I knew I'd be a weeping mess out in the wind.

But I guess it's a funny thing about runs: Some days are good and some are bad. This morning was a good run, despite the crazy wind that pushed me so hard I was running sideways and the rain that appeared even though the radar map on my app was completely clear. My eyes didn't water more than normal, and the tempo pace I was struggling with a week ago felt doable--even a little easy. In fact, I kept checking my pace to find I was running much faster than I should and forced myself to slow down. I didn't feel like I was pushing myself hard and felt no nausea.

I guess it just goes to show that you never know how your run will be, so the best thing to do is just to get out there and do it.
